Appalachian Echoes is a three-hour, weekly syndicated radio program that highlights the talented artists, songwriters and musicians with ties to Appalachia, as well as the vibrant and growing genre of Americana music which often features the echoes of Appalachian influence. The show focuses on predominantly independent artists and music often overlooked by commercial radio playlists, and fuels a sense of listener loyalty based on home place pride.

Lainey Wilson Scores Another #1 Hit On Country Radio As “Somewhere Over Laredo” Tops The Charts

Another hit. Over the weekend, Lainey Wilson scored her 9th career number one song at country radio with her single “Somewhere Over Laredo.” The song was included on the deluxe edition of her 2024 fifth studio album, Whirlwind. Lainey co-wrote it with her frequent collaborators Trannie Anderson, and Dallas Wilson, and Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg also received writing credits as the song interpolates the melody of “Over the Rainbow”, which was of course originally written for the 1939 film The Wizard […]
