Appalachian Echoes is a three-hour, weekly syndicated radio program that highlights the talented artists, songwriters and musicians with ties to Appalachia, as well as the vibrant and growing genre of Americana music which often features the echoes of Appalachian influence. The show focuses on predominantly independent artists and music often overlooked by commercial radio playlists, and fuels a sense of listener loyalty based on home place pride.

Mike and Ruth Merenda have been making music together as The Mammals since 2001, with a little break in 2008 to play as Mike & Ruthy. They’ve been back as The Mammals since 2017 with a couple of great albums. Hit Songwriter, Bluegrass Great Ronnie Bowman Dies in Motorcycle Crash
Ronnie Bowman was severely injured on Saturday afternoon, March 21st in Ashland City, TN. He was transported to Nashville’s Vanderbilt Hospital for treatment where he passed away around 3:00 pm on Sunday.

Bluegrass great, country hit songwriter, and frequent Chris Stapleton collaborator, Ronnie Bowman, tragically passed away today, March 22, 2026, following a motorcycle accident outside of Nashville the day before.
