REVIEW: Abigail Lapell Sings Her Way to Motherhood, plus a Rockabilly Anthology

Abigail Lapell Sings Her Way to Motherhood, plus a Rockabilly Anthology Sometimes a whisper can pack more punch than a shout. Witness, for example, the music of Nick Drake—or the similarly understated folk recordings of Abigail Lapell, whose atmospheric work might also occasionally remind you of Pentangle, Fairport Convention, or early Donovan. The Toronto-based singer, […]

Now & Then: Hiss Golden Messenger’s I’m People and the reach of Veedon Fleece

A good Hiss Golden Messenger record does not arrive like a statement from a mountaintop. It pulls up beside you at a gas station, coffee gone cold, with a half-finished thought about mercy, children, money, God, and whether the map is helping. I’m People fits that line perfectly: a road record with home on its mind, full of M.C. Morgan Wallen Walked Out Solo For Night One Of Indianapolis Concert Weekend

Morgan Wallen Walked Out Solo For Night One Of Indianapolis Concert Weekend

Looks like he couldn’t get anyone in Indianapolis, either. Last night, Morgan Wallen headlined his first night at Lucas Oil Stadium with openers Brooks & Dunn, Hudson Westbrook, and Zach John King. And once again, just like last weekend in Las Vegas, he did his iconic intro walk out alone. If you recall, during his first night in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, he came out completely alone, which I’m sure came as a surprise to fans because there were […]
